Parasols can be classic, romantic, vibrant, playful and just about anything you want them to be. Brides can use one to walk down the aisle with to block the sun and/or to just use as part of the theme and decor. One thing I saw recently was the bridesmaids using turquoise parasols to walk down the aisle with and the bride had a Mango colored one and the flower girl had one that had the initial of the newly wed couples last name. They made the ceremony area “pop”, kept the sun out of everyone’s eyes and were fun for photos. I think these are a great addition for a beach wedding and a simple way to add color to the area.
There seem to be a lot of websites such as Luna Bazaar and Asian Ideas that now sell parasols for weddings and they offer fun ways to customize them. One idea would be to use lace or fabric from something old (possibly your grandma’s old table cloth.) This not only makes it the something “Old” in your wedding but makes it personable and sentimental.
Don’t forget these are also a great way to keep your guests shaded and cool. Offer them up to your guests before they enter the ceremony area or place them in fun decorative baskets as they enter. Believe me, during the hot months they will appreciate this small detail very much!
